Development Officer
Mekhi (Khi) Washington brings a robust background in project management, policy analysis, and program development to Evolution Reentry Services. Mekhi’s professional journey began at the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and continued as a Workforce Programs Specialist with the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL), where she oversaw the implementation and management of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title I youth programming services and funding. Her leadership extended to pivotal initiatives, including the Governor’s Gun Violence Prevention funding initiative (2021) and the Governor’s Youth Council (2023–2024), both focused on enhancing service delivery and fostering community engagement.

With over four years of experience across social services, fiscal oversight, research, and both non-profit and government sectors, Mekhi consistently achieves project goals while thoughtfully addressing the needs of diverse stakeholders. She is an accomplished grant writer for both governmental and non-profit (501[c]) organizations, skillfully supervising budgets, preparing detailed expenditure reports, and optimizing resource allocation. Mekhi’s analytical approach supports data-informed decision-making, and her collaborative style has led to strong partnerships with public officials, community leaders, and organizational partners.
Mekhi holds a Master’s degree in Policy and Cultural Studies from the University at Albany, SUNY, equipping her with a deep understanding of cultural dynamics, community needs, and policy development. She is driven by a passion for equity, opportunity, and meaningful reentry support for returning citizens and their families.
